Allison and her family were going to go camping for the first time! Allison couldn’t wait. The night before their six-hour car ride, she packed a black rucksack and put out her morning clothes on the couch in her bedroom. She slept well that night and woke up at four in the morning the next day. She wore a black Nike t-shirt with baggy army green sweatpants and classic red sneakers. She went out and helped her family pack their clothes and shoved the suitcase in the back of the car. Once they were done, they rushed back in the house as it was quite chilly.

“Who wants pancakes?” Karen, Allison’s mom, said in a melodious voice. She turned around to serve the pancakes that were still on the pan but had to place the pan on the kitchen table, as her blond hair fell untidily over her eyes. As Karen was putting her hair behind her ear, Allison and her brother, Ian, had bit into three mini pancakes each. Shocked as she investigated the pan, Karen exclaimed “Where did the pancakes go?!”.

The kids giggled, but stopped abruptly as an arm touched their shoulder. “Good morning everybody, finish your breakfast and we shall leave” said their dad. He looked at the mirror above the kitchen sink, fixed his blonde hair and adjusted his t-shirt, to show off his muscular build.

They all settled into the car and started their journey. The campsite was more of a resort that had activities planned for children and adults differently. They reached the campsite and were in awe. The camp was on the top of the mountain giving them a great view of the villages and the river at the bottom.

They entered their cabin to explore, the children found a bunk bed and screamed with excitement. There was a double bed for their parents. The whole cabin was made of wood except for the bathroom floor which was made of marble. The family put their clothes in the beige closet and left for a picnic.

They laid a tiny tent on the grass under a tree and had their lunch. There was bread, cut fruits, some boneless chicken, and pancakes. Karen had packed these things as she knew the children crave this food after travelling. They finished their food and headed back to the cabin for some rest and Allison fell asleep.

She fell asleep and slept for about an hour or two until suddenly there was a whistle. She had a weird dream and couldn’t get her mind off it. She came outside to see every visitor lined up there to go for a trek. She joined the line and was found sitting behind an old man, he was the owner of the camp. “Oh, hello there!” he said excitedly. She said the same and then one of the camp instructors spoke. “Does anybody know where we are now?” he asked. “We are in the mountains” one called out. “We are in-” he was interrupted. “Genovia” Allison said. She wondered how she knew that because she had never been told where they were. “Yes. Thank you” he replied. Throughout the trek, Allison knew everything.

They came back to the camp after the trek, changed and came to the bonfire. They all sat down next to the fire and the camp instructor started to tell a scary story. It was about a girl called Mellissa who loved coming to this camp but was bullied by a rude boy called Max. She despised Max because he would always ruin the fun. One night Max tied her up and took her to the top of the hill. His best friend Ryan had helped him drug her. They left her there with her mouth duct-taped and her hands tied at the back. She had a torn blanket to cover herself with that they had thrown at her.

The next morning, Ryan and Max returned to only see bloody footsteps leading to a cliff. “Could it be?” they thought. They looked over the cliff to see a dead body of none other than Mellissa. They screamed and ran as fast they could. Ryan made it back to camp but Max, unfortunately, didn’t make it. And to this day nobody knows where he or his body is.

Allison felt like she witnessed this and realized that was the dream she had! Except that she saw it from the girl’s point of view. Now she knew why she knew everything about the camp. It was because she was Mellissa! She told the camp instructor, the old man and her parents everything. They were all astonished but believed her.

That was going to be the spookiest camping experience Allison will ever remember.
