Dear reader,
The first issue of Pause Magazine has been in the making, officially, for four months but it began as a lofty idea which seeded itself into my 12-year-old mind. In my seventh grade, I noticed a quiet love for writing blossoming at the back of my head, growing unnoticed for so long amidst the hundreds of random ideas running through my stream of consciousness every day. I hope our first issue of Pause helps you notice a similar flower, or orange-tree, or 100-foot tall beanstalk growing at the back of your mind, and I hope you acknowledge and nurture your deeper loves.
In this issue, we have a wonderful collection of creative, argumentative and journalistic writing alongside inviting works of art, music and dance. The editorial and design team of Pause have worked with passion, exhaustion and, at times, general annoyance, towards the completion of this issue. To the fantastic creators and authors in this issue: thank you for supporting and fueling an initiative which is here to stay.
With the end of the first semester, Academic Year 2020-2021, we hope each of you finds a moment to pause, immerse yourselves in the written conversations and artistic reflections of people you know, and save up moments of comfort in the chaos of the present.
Sincerely,
Anushka Roy
Dear All,
It is with immense gratitude and joy that we are announcing the first ever issue of the student-lead ‘Pause’ magazine! When Anushka first began discussing the idea of a school magazine, our vision was to create a bi-annual issue led by the students of Middle School to showcase the different talents which you all hold. It had been an idea which had been sporadically evolving over time, until one day we finally got approval and began the process. Within the magazine, there are several different sections with pieces which were carefully curated by our team in order to showcase the work of pupils in our community.
I’d like to emphasize on the continuous dedication and countless hours spent ensuring the highest quality of the magazine, and the tiresome amount of work our team had to go through and I’d like to thank each and every one of them. I sincerely hope you all enjoy the first issue of ‘Pause’, and thank you for your submissions and support.
“Do not wait; the time will never be ‘just right.’ Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” —George Herbert
Yours Sincerely,
