Written pieces under the Culture section will consist of non-persuasive writing/reporting regarding ongoings of the world around us. This could include a review of a new movie, for example, or a critique of an artwork/song. Writing will resemble discussion over trends or cultural aspects of our community. NO ARGUMENTS/ PERSUASION TO BE POSED IN.

 

CULTURE ARTICLES: 

Writing must be well-researched. Arts pieces under this section will include visual arts and music pieces, which must be accompanied by a short write-up. Artworks can be submitted to complement/inform a written piece (any kind: creative writing, culture, opinion) and placement of the whole piece altogether will be done based on the category of the written piece. WORD LIMIT: under 700 words.

 

OPINION:

Pieces under the opinion section have a broad scope for style and theme. Essentially, all pieces under the Opinion section must pose a persuasive piece around an opinion. Writing under this section differs from that under Culture because opinions will require substantiation. WORD LIMIT: 500- 700 words. Short Opinion writing will consist of opinion pieces in the range of 100-200 words. Opinion Videos must be under 2 minutes and can utilise creative visual animation, etc. to emphasise on the opinion.

 

CREATIVE WRITING:

Any form of creative writing (be it poetry, personal essays, monologues, script-writing, short fiction/non-fiction etc. Sensitive/triggering topics must come with a trigger warning and a tasteful, mature and understanding representation of the topic. WORD LIMIT: under 800 words
